Due to COVID 19 and in order to maintain physical distancing while taking part with our tryout process you will be required to sign up for a group. Each group will have assigned times and we will look at adding more groups if required to accommodate more athletes at tryouts.

MENS TRYOUT SCHEDULES (Tentative)

Due to COVID 19 and in order to maintain physical distancing while taking part with our tryout process you will be required to sign up for a group. Each group will have assigned times and we will look at adding more groups if required to accommodate more athletes at tryouts.

MANDATORY - IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Athletes trying out for a club team are required to enroll as a member in the Volleyball Registration System (VRS), as a recreation player and pay a non-refundable fee of $15.50 ($10.50 VA plus $5 Volleyball Canada fee + GST)

Previous memberships for the previous season expired on Aug 31, 2020 therefore it is MANDATORY that all Players, Coaches, and Club Staff become Volleyball Alberta members PRIOR to participating in tryouts.

Once team selections are complete, we will complete the upgrade to your membership. This additional fee is already included within your seasons club fees. If an athlete does not make a team they are still eligible to sign up for other clinics, camps or league programs without re-paying the recreational player fee for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season which runs until Aug 31, 2021.

14U - Sept. 1, 2006 to Dec. 31, 2007

15U - Sept. 1, 2005 to Dec. 31, 2006

16U - Sept. 1, 2004 to Dec. 31, 2005

17U - Sept. 1, 2003 to Dec. 31, 2004

18U - Sept. 1, 2002 to Dec. 31, 2003

For 2021 Club Nationals, 18U Age Category ONLY:

A team roster for the 18U category can include 2 athletes born from Jan 1-August 31, 2002, with the following restriction:

Athletes are NOT permitted to be part of any CIS, ACAC or other Post-Secondary volleyball program for the current season (Sept 2020-May 2021)

Athletes & their families are not obligated to sign offers presented to them & still have the ability to sign with another club team during the Open Signing Period OR try out for other club teams during the Tryout Period.

· The Open Signing Period is when clubs may make offers to ATHLETES competing in the 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U & 18U age categories ONLY.

· Athletes competing in the 13U Age Class will use the Tryout Period process.

· Formal offers made during the Open Signing Period expire at:

o 5:00pm, 2 days after the offer is given. (Ex. Athlete receives an offer on November 15 during the Tryout Period. The offer expires at 5:00pm on November 17.)

o 5:00pm on the last day of the Open Signing Period (November 25, 2020). * The open signing period is extended to Dec. 16, 2020 (posted Dec 2)

· Athletes are eligible to receive offers from multiple clubs during the Open Signing Period.

· Athletes & their families are not obligated to sign offers presented to them & still retain the ability to try out for other club teams during the Tryout Period.

Clubs must be registered & approved prior to the Tryout Period Teams are only allowed to sign a maximum of 12 athletes · Tryouts should be facilitated utilizing physically distanced models to promote a healthy & safe environment for all athletes to safely participate in more than one tryout · Be mindful of the number of athletes attending your tryouts as it relates to facility occupancy guidelines · Formal offers made during the Tryout Period expire at 5:00pm, 2 days after the offer is given. (Ex. Athlete receives an offer on November 29 during the Tryout Period. The offer expires at 5:00pm on December 1.) · Please review the remaining Tryout Period Policies · Clubs need to ensure signed athletes are registered in the Volleyball Registration System (VRS-Goalline) using the 2021 SIGNED ATHLETE FORM REGISTRATION as soon as your team formation is complete.
