Head Coach - Pieter Peskens

Pieter is excited to start his new adventure with SAS Volleyball Club. Pieter resides in Leduc and has spent the last 6 years coaching volleyball in Leduc. He spent four years coaching at his old Junior/Senior High School and has spent the last two years coaching club volleyball for Black Gold Volleyball Club. During those two years he coached U15 women and U16 women. Pieter has played high level sports his entire life and has a great passion for volleyball. He cannot wait to get the season started and to share his knowledge with his team.

Assistant Coach - Ireland Kinsella

Ireland comes from Leduc and is excited to be joining Pieter and SAS Volleyball Club this season in the role of Assistant Coach for the U17 Women. Growing up She played high level competitive ringette and volleyball. She played club volleyball for four years and played all eligible yesrs throughout junior high and high school. She has had the privilege of watching her sister Cassidy play 5 years of university ball at grant macewan. Growing up in a house with volleyball she has been able to gain a ton of knowledge about the game and cannot wait to share her insights. Ireland is currently in school, graduating in June from massage therapy. Ireland can't wait to get started and bring her high energy and enthusiasm the upcoming club season.

Pre-holiday practices: December training dates TBD

There is potential for 1-2 practices the week of Jan 1st based on athlete availability – locations TBD.

Full practice schedule begins Monday, January 7th, 2019.

Additional training: Sports Wellness Psychology, fitness, and special Aspire training sessions will be scheduled throughout the season to aid with increasing athlete strength, skill development and mental focus training. Visualisation techniques will also be incorporated.

 

Competitions

Saville League is a series of exhibition matches that run every weekend early in the season. Each weekend (one day only) two matches are held against local teams within a 3hr window. Exact dates and times will be made available in late December. The cost of Saville league is covered in the team fees.

Saville League estimated expected dates: Jan. 5 or 6, Jan. 12 or 13, Jan. 19 or 20, Jan. 26 or 27, Feb. 2 or 3. All Saville League matches are played at the Saville Centre in Edmonton.

Volleyball Alberta Premier and National tournament dates are found on the Volleyball Alberta website.

**Exhibition matches vs. other local clubs and other local tournaments may also be arranged. Advanced notice will be provided.

 

Communication

The primary mode of communication for all team members, parents and coaches will be TeamSnap. This app will display all upcoming team practices, competitions and other team events, and allow you to indicate your availability. It also has a roster of players and contact information for players, parents and coaching staff. At the start of the season you will receive an invite to SAS U17 Girls TeamSnap via email. Once you accept you will be able to access TeamSnap on your phone, tablet or computer. The app is free to download and use although there are now some adds that you may pay or to dismiss if you prefer. All team members are required to get this app.

 

Club Fees: $2,100.00

Included in the fees:

  • Athlete & Coach registration with Volleyball Alberta and Volleyball Canada
  • 3 on court training sessions/week.
  • Additional sport specific training.
  • Sports Psychology Wellness sessions.
  • Team Apparel: 2 jerseys, long sleeve warmup, practice t-shirt, backpack, and Jacket/Hoody.
  • Facility fees 
  • Registration Entry Fee for all Volleyball Alberta Premier, Provincial, and National Tournaments
  • Registration Entry Fee for Volleyball Canada National Championships
  • Coaches travel, accommodation and food allowance for out of town Premier and Provincial tournaments.
  • Coaches travel, accommodation and food allowance for Nationals in Toronto.
