Coordinator & Head Coach - Rob Rubuliak

This is Rob's 10th year with the volleyball club. He has been an RCMP officer for 18 years and has coached youth hockey, baseball, soccer and volleyball. He is NCCP Level One (Development Coach) trained in volleyball, assistant coached at RS Fowler, coached at ESSMY and instructed in Atomic Volleyball for 3 years. His coaching philosophy is that U13 is primarily about developing proper technical skills in a safe and positive environment in order to foster a life-long love of the sport. Volleyball Alberta's utilization of triple-ball is ideal for this development. Tactical/team/system's will be introduced gradually on a strong technical platform. Multi-sport athletes are welcome and our U13 athletes will be encouraged to develop their physical abilities with team exposure to fundamental strength and agility training.

Head Coach - Karen Smith

Hi my name is Karen Smith, I have been Denturist in Westlock for the last 18 years, I have mentored and trained numerous staff and students at my clinic in that time. I have been a part of SAS executive for 2 years in the Communications position and been involved with this club since 2014 when one of my daughters started her interest in volleyball.
I helped run practices and drills last year for the U15W age group which grew a keen interest in me to want to coach this year. I have played numerous competitive sports in my life including volleyball, golf, fastball, slow pitch, downhill skiing and club badminton. Volleyball has become a true passion for our whole family.
I am currently working on my Developmental Coach certificate (Level1).
I hope throughout the season to help young players reach their full potential and feel confident and positive about their club volleyball experience.  I am looking forward to a great year!

My name is Dani Smith
I have been playing for SAS since I was 10 years old and made the U13 team.
I have played all my club years with SAS and truly enjoy the friendships and competitiveness of the teams I have been on. I am currently a Grade 10 student at Morinville Community High School and play  Oh/setter for the Senior Girls Team. I will be playing for the SAS Green U16 team this  season and can’t wait to share my knowledge as a player with the girls of the U13 team.
