We have been closely monitoring Alberta Health Services (AHS) for quite some time regarding COVID -19. We had previously released extreme precautionary measures to continue with practices which ended up short lived. WIth the increased risk that COVID-19 presented, the recemmendations from Volleyball Alberta and from AHS, we decided to take steps effective March 15, 2020 to postpone all practices and team events indefinitely. The safety of all athletes and their families is always the number one priority.
SAS Executive will continue to monitor Alberta Health Services (AHS), Volleyball Alberta and Volleyball Canada for updates and will post any updates through social media channels, our website and via email.
SAS will be assessing opportunities for refunds at the end of the season regarding all cancelled events.

Frequently Asked Questions:
F.A.Q.'s added March 17, 2020
1. Should my Club/Team still be practicing?
Canada's Chief Public Health Officer Theresa Tam has urged Canadians to take extra steps to limit the spread of the virus, "One way to do that is through social distancing. Social distancing is an important contribution that everyone can make to our control efforts".
Volleyball Alberta believes that we, including our clubs and teams, have a social responsibility to take proactive measures. We recommend that volleyball activities cease immediately to limit potential exposure and spread of the virus.
2. What is your refund policy for cancelled events?
Due to the unprecedented and rapidly evolving situation, we ask for your patience as we continue to work with our Board of Directors, stakeholders, and risk management team to review the appropriate refund policy for each of our cancelled/suspended events.
We need to ensure our organization remains financially sustainable, while being aware of the impact on our clubs, teams, and individual members.
The following events have been reviewed and the refund policy is listed below:
Cancelled Premier Tournament Events:
15U/16U Premier #2 on March 14-15, 13U Premier #2/14U Premier #3 on March 21-22, 17U/18U Premier #3 on March 28-29, and 15U/16U Premier #3 on April 4-5.
* A refund of the tournament entry fee will be processed.
* Any membership fees and/or roster change fees will NOT be refunded.
3. Will there be any changes to the competition regulations if we resume play of the suspended Premier events/Provincials?
Volleyball Alberta will be reviewing our Competition Regulations. As this is a constantly evolving situation, we have to be fluid with our response. The regulations may or may not be adapted per age class or gender depending on when/if events can be resumed.
4. Will cancelled tournaments be re-scheduled?
We do not have the capacity to reschedule cancelled tournaments.
5. What about Provincial Shirts – will I still get my order?
We are still accepting team orders for Provincials shirts.
If Provincials are cancelled, team orders will be shipped to the Team Contact’s mailing address.
Teams who have already placed an order for Provincials shirts will be given the option to cancel the order in full prior to the order deadline (March 23, 2020). Partial refund/cancellation requests will not be possible. The team contact will need to email Julie Noel via email@example.com with a copy of the order confirmation to request a refund.
6. What is happening with Nationals?
Volleyball Canada will take the advice of local and federal government bodies and decide by April 15 on whether to cancel Nationals. Please note a decision may be made sooner, depending on how the situation evolves.
